The Mentor Board of Education unanimously passed a resolution at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting to enter a sponsorship agreement with Lake Health.
The sponsorship will pay Mentor Schools $320,000 for various academic and athletic program sponsorships, establishing Lake Health as their exclusive health care sponsor for the next 10 years. Under separate agreements Mentor Schools and Lake Health have agreed to extend agreements which provide athletic trainer, physician and Cardinal Clinic services for a period of 10 years.
"We have been very happy with the quality of care provided to our student athletes and staff members through Lake Health's physicians and athletic trainers," said Mentor Schools Superintendent Matthew Miller. "It makes sense to continue growing our partnership, and we are appreciative of Lake Health's support of our academic and athletic programs through the sponsorship funds."
Mentor Schools and Lake Health began working together in 2007 when our Mentor High School athletic department entered an agreement for athletic trainer and physician services. The partnership expanded in 2013 with the addition of the Cardinal Clinic, which provides convenient preventive and walk-in health care to Mentor Schools employees and their families. The Cardinal Clinic was developed as a cost-savings initiative for the district's health care expenses.
"Our partnership with Mentor Schools exemplifies the positive impact of community collaboration," said Cynthia Moore-Hardy, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of Lake Health. "We're excited to extend our partnership so that we can create new opportunities for students, parents, staff and the community in support of their health and wellness."
"As a Board, we are pleased to see this working relationship continue to grow between two of the largest entities in Lake County," added Mentor Board of Education President Mary Bryner.
"It is great for our local community and local economy when we can work together and keep business dollars here in our neighborhood."
In return for the sponsorship, Mentor Schools will place Lake Health signage in the Mentor High School gymnasium and media center and on football field turf and baseball fence.
