TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Pima County Sheriff’s Department seeks three people suspected of carjacking a cab driver who picked them up from a casino.

A 54-year-old cab driver drove the three suspects away from Casino del Sol early in the morning on July 16 when a male and female suspect took out weapons, told him to pull over and demanded money, according to PCSD Chief Deputy Chris Nanos. The cab driver refused so the suspects pulled him out of the taxi and took his money, Nanos confirmed in a news release.

Deputies arrived on scene in the 2900 block of W. Via San Andrea around 6:30 a.m. They discovered a potential witness drove by and slowed down while the victim was reportedly robbed so the suspects got into the cab and fled the scene.

The cab driver was not injured and yelled to the nearby driver to call 911.

The first suspect was described as a Native American or Hispanic woman, between 30 and 40 years old, 4’6” to 5’ tall, 130 lbs., and had black hair pulled into a bun. Deputies said she has a tattoo on the left side of her neck and might have one on her arm. She was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black denim pants.

Sheriff’s officials said the woman, identified by the name “Monica,” claims to be the mother of the second female suspect, who was also described as Native American or Hispanic. Officials said she’s in her early to mid-twenties, stands 4’6” to 5’ tall, weighs about 140 lbs., has brown eyes and draws on her eyebrows. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with an unknown print.

The third suspect, who “Monica” reportedly claims is her husband, was described as a 35 to 45-year-old dark-skinned Hispanic man, between 5’ and 5’3”, 140 lbs., has a deep voice and was last seen wearing a black, short-sleeved button up shirt, long black pants and a black ball cap.

Anyone with information on the suspects is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
