PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Two people, including a 9-year-old boy, were rushed to Portland-area hospitals Friday after their SUV struck a deer.

Clark County firefighters said the crash happened in the northbound lane of 152nd Avenue around 1 p.m.

Deputies said the deer ran into the road, and a 35-year-old woman from La Center crashed into it. The impact caused the driver to swerve off the road and crash into a ravine on the east side of the roadway.

A LifeFlight helicopter took the woman's 9-year-old son to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, while the woman went by ambulance to Peace Health Southwest Medical Center.

At last check, the boy is in critical but stable condition at the hospital.

The deer was killed in the crash.
