Car narrowly misses collision with Northeast Portland home

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

There was a close call in Northeast Portland Saturday afternoon when a car went off the road, flipped and nearly ended up in someone's house.

It stopped just short of crashing through the home.

The wreck that ended in a lawn near 72nd and Mason may have started when the driver of the rolled car missed a stop sign. That's what another driver, Nancy Neher, said happened.

"It was just really fast," she said. "When I realized she wasn't going to stop or she didn't see the stop sign, it was just too late to react."

Her car was hit, but Neher wasn't hurt. Right after, the car that hit hers landed in Ray Cummings' lawn.

"Both drivers walked away, and our house didn't get hit," Cummings said. "My car was just parked right here, somehow didn't get hit. It was an unfortunate event but lucky for everybody."

Police said no one was seriously hurt.
