CHURCH HILL, TN (WJHL) -

A Church Hill man was arrested Friday on burglary and vandalism charges after he was seen leaving a home being renovated on Ramey Town Road.

According to a Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office, an employee with Bankers Inspector told dispatchers that she went to the residence, 230 Ramey Town Road that was under renovation to take pictures of the process, when she saw a man exit from the basement of the residence.

She said the man, later identified as Markus James Flanigan, 25, 226 Ramey Town Road, ran to a nearby residence where deputies located him.

Flanigan told deputies that he lived nearby and said he left his residence and went inside the vacant home without permission.

He reportedly told deputies that he took a pair of tree snips to cut electrical wires, because he planned on selling the wire for extra money.

Deputies said they found three to four sections of electrical wires on the basement flood, two light fixtures and a fuze box that had wire snipped, wires to the hot water heater that had been cut, as well as several other cut wires hanging from the subfloor.

According to the report, the tree snips were found in between the two residences.

Flanigan was arrested and charged with burglary and felony vandalism.
