Police identified 47-year-old Wayne Dinayog Nabehet as the suspect in Thursday afternoon's stabbing and homicide in Northeast Portland.

Officers were called out to the 4700 block of Northeast 96th Avenue at 4:17 p.m. Thursday.

Police and medical crews found a man suffering from a stab wound. He went to a nearby Econo Lodge for help. His injuries were described as potentially life-threatening.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment, while police attempted to contact the suspect.

The 65-year-old man who was stabbed was in critical condition Thursday night.

By 6 p.m., the Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team had been called to the scene.

When police entered the home after arresting the suspect, they found a person dead inside. The cause of death was not immediately revealed, but investigators are calling it a homicide.

Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation and are not prepared to release any additional information at this time.

Names of the surviving and deceased victims are anticipated to be released later Friday.

Nabehet will be arraigned today in Multnomah County Court.
