PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police are trying to track down a man accused of approaching two young children and rubbing their shoulders in a Kmart store.

Officers were called to the store on the 12300 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

A woman reported that her two young children were sitting on the floor inside the store near their shopping cart.

Police said she walked away from the cart to an adjacent aisle momentarily and that's when a man approached the kids.

The woman told police he spoke to her children in both English and Spanish and rubbed their shoulders.

The woman confronted the man and she said he then left the area.

Security workers attempted to find him, but he was already gone.

Neither child was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 30 to 50 years old, 5'8" tall and 180 pounds with dark brown hair. He was wearing a tan T-shirt with black and white stripes, black cargo shorts and black athletic shoes with red soles.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact Detective Heidi Helwig at 503-823-0797 or heidi.helwig@portlandoregon.gov.
