PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

It's still two days away, but don't tell that to Portland's soccer fans awaiting the MLS All-Star game against German powerhouse Bayern Munich.

"You see other teams across the United States want to have fans like our fans, so it's really cool to see the excitement and just to grow soccer in the Portland community," Lea Nyseth said.

All week, special events have been held in and around downtown Portland to bring soccer fans together, including a field set up in Pioneer Courthouse Square, meet and greets with the players and a special game at Providence Park Monday, pitching the Timbers U-23 team against MLS Homegrown players.

"I'm a Timbers army regular in [section] 107 so to see all the All-Stars and Homegrown talent is pretty exciting," Bill Schwartz said.

Schwartz is one of the lucky ones who will actually be at Wednesday's All-Star game. Tickets went very quickly, and the Timbers report that ticket holders will be coming from 44 states and 10 countries, while the game will be broadcast in 150 countries.

The Portland Timbers has two players on the All-Star roster: Will Johnson and Diego Valeri.

FOX 12 caught up with Valeri while he was signing autographs and taking pictures with fans Monday, and he admitted he's a little nervous for the game.  He said this game has a special meaning.

"It's special, it's different because it's at home, and I think we'll do great," Valeri said. "Thanks to the fans, the Timbers fans who will be at the stadium and enjoy it."

The event will continue throughout the week leading up to Wednesday's match, set for 6:30 p.m. at Providence Park.

"It's great to see Portland and Soccer City being spotlighted internationally and nationally," Kelly Schwartz added, "I just hope we're doing a good job and making Portland proud."
