SHERIDAN, OR (KPTV) -

The body of missing Dundee woman Jennifer Huston was found off a remote road in Yamhill County on Tuesday.

A property owner found Huston's SUV and reported it to authorities around 10:30 a.m. Yamhill County deputies responded and found the 1999 Lexus LX 470 that Huston was last seen driving.

Deputies did not locate Huston inside the SUV, but Newberg-Dundee police made a sweep of the area and found her body within 50 yards of the vehicle.

There are no signs of foul play, according to detectives.

At a press conference Tuesday, police said the SUV was being towed from the site for further processing by Oregon State Police forensics specialists.

Police were not able to confirm many specific details about the early stages of the investigation.

"We're keeping an open mind, but I think we've got a pretty good idea of what happened," said Capt. Jeff Kosmicki with Newberg-Dundee police.

Kosmicki said it wasn't immediately clear how long the SUV was at that site and he couldn't confirm if any items of interest were found in or around the vehicle.

Kosmicki said it also wasn't clear if Huston's phone had been recovered yet. Police previously reported that her cell phone signal was lost about an hour after she was last seen on July 24.

He said the road the SUV was found on is about five to seven miles off Highway 18 and at least an eighth of a mile from the nearest home.

"It doesn't appear to be a crash that caused this," Kosmicki said.

A post on the Find Jennifer Huston Facebook page was made shortly after police announced the discovery of her body.

"Thank you to everyone who has helped search for Jennifer," the post said. "We are grieving at this time and ask that we be given privacy."

Huston's disappearance made national news as search crews canvassed the community and beyond looking for her. Reported sightings came from as far away as California, the San Juan Islands and even Michigan.

Huston was last seen leaving her home at 5:45 p.m. July 24. Her husband said she was going to run errands and she was caught on surveillance video that evening outside a credit union, at a gas station and inside a Rite Aid in Newberg, just a few miles from her home.

The mother of two young boys never returned to her house.
