Steve Spurrier sat with a video remote in hand watching film with the Gamecocks when he saw something that didn't sit well with him.
"Connor McLaurin, are you in here?" the Head Ball Coach called out.
"Yes sir," the fullback's voice responded from the group of players.
"Do you know where the middle of the field is?" Spurrier asked. "The middle of the field is in between these two hashes in case you didn't know it. I bet those media boys even know where the middle of the field is."
"Those media boys" Spurrier referred to were about 15 reporters and anchors from various outlets who sat in the back of the Gamecocks' meeting room to observe the film session recorded from Thursday's practice.
Throughout the session, Spurrier clicked back and forth during certain parts of plays from their Thursday morning practice using a laser pointer as he and his assistant coaches noted positives and negatives with their offensive skill players.
"SEC Network was in there," Spurrier told reporters after Thursday's practice. "I think you deserve the right to be in there also."
While the meeting was primarily centered around improving the offense, there were some light moments here and there including a round of applause for Kevin Crosby who was a little late to the meeting and Spurrier's reference to Nick Jones as "Governor Nicky."
The session lasted a little over 15 minutes as Spurrier and his assistants went over things that went right and things that didn't go so right from Thursday's morning practice. The Gamecocks using film taken from two different angles of the Bluff Road practice field.
