TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

A girl was rushed to the hospital after she was struck by a window covering at The Cheesecake Factory, according to firefighters.

A Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue spokesperson said emergency crews responded to the restaurant at Washington Square at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters said a young girl, between the age of 3 and 5 years old, was bleeding. She was conscious and alert, however, when she was taken to Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

Investigators said she was struck by a large sun shade or mini-blinds while eating with her parents.

The girl was listed in serious condition at the hospital on Tuesday, according to an Oregon Health & Science University spokesperson.

David Gordon, president of The Cheesecake Factory Inc., released a statement about the situation Tuesday. He said: "We are investigating the cause of this unfortunate accident. Right now our thoughts and prayers are with the family and their daughter and we are hoping that she has a speedy recovery."
