NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

After a year on the run, a man accused of hiding runaway girls is in Davidson County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

The Channel 4 I-Team first exposed Ashley King squatting in a foreclosed property. That led to criminal indictments for statutory rape and harboring runaways.

There are still many questions about where King has been and what he has been doing over the last year.

Wednesday, King surrendered himself at his attorney's office. He was taken to Nashville General Hospital for a mandatory HIV test and then booked into jail.

The guardian of one of King's victims, a former runaway, wants her to testify against him.

The Channel 4 I-Team first told her guardian, Angela Bryant, about King's incarceration. Bryant then told the girl, who she has taken care of since age 3.

"She almost, like, stopped breathing for a second," Bryant said.

Bryant still does not know what went on with the girl and King.

"She won't tell me," Bryant said.

Arrest records show Bryant picked up the girls at a local grocery store. At the time, his attorney said he just let them do their laundry at the home he did not rent or own.

While Bryant knows little about what happened, there's one thing she knows for sure.

"When this man came into the picture, she was in a very dark place," Bryant said. "But now, she's a straight A/B student. She's had no trouble at home, at school, in the community. She's a joy now."

Bryant said she gave the girl advice about testifying against King.

"Just be honest about the whole situation, tell what happened," Bryant said. "He deserves to be punished, and put it behind you."

The I-Team's repeated calls to King's attorney were not returned by deadline.
