RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A 14-year-old has been arrested and charged with cruelty to animals in connection with the death of a Richmond cat.

The teen is one of three boys police say provoked their dogs to kill a family's cat in Richmond's East End.

Detectives released surveillance photos earlier Friday and media attention helped lead to the arrest. The teen now faces a felony charge. Police are still looking for help identify the other two juveniles, who could also face animal cruelty charges.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of Selden Street. Police believe the attack was intentional.

The video is too gruesome to show but the audio itself gives a compelling account of what happened Sunday.

"I heard something, like dogs and they were fighting so I got up and I was watching it and it was crazy, I recorded it."

A neighbor who wanted her identity concealed caught the entire incident on her cell phone.

That video is being used by Richmond Police to track down the suspected wanted for intentionally provoking their dogs to attack and kill the cat named Black Beauty.

"I'm pissed that they had do some dumb s**t and they got nothing else to do," Carey Macon said.

Black Beauty's owner Carey Macon is still coming to terms with the murder of his beloved companion.

Macon told me three young men ignored no trespassing signs and came onto his property with their dogs, who attacked and killed Black Beauty.

"I've been upset about it but there is nothing you can do about it, my cat is gone," Macon said.

Morris Parker saw the attack. His wife called police

"I saw these dogs, one laying down trying to tear the cat up the other one had it in his mouth," Morris Parker said.

Lt. Jody Blackwell with Richmond Police says he is unsure what criminal case could be pending against the teens, but hopes more tips will help them catch the other two suspects.

"This caused a huge great concern towards the community because today it was a cat but tomorrow it could be a little girl riding a bike down the street," Lieutenant Jody Blackwell said.

Detectives ask anyone with any information about this crime to call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
