So, are you ready for Thursday night? You've been keeping up with the offseason noise, or "talking season" as coach Steve Spurrier refers to it, for so long that South Carolina's opener against Texas A&M feels like an eternity away.
But here we just hours away from kickoff. The hopes and dreams of an entire fanbase now rides on the shoulders of several new and veteran faces.
Those faces could mean the difference between a special season or an ordinary one.
Dylan Thompson is the guy
Most of the offseason has been focused on South Carolina breaking in fifth-year senior quarterback Dylan Thompson as the new starter. Despite backing up former quarterback Connor Shaw for several seasons, Thompson has the experience and the consistency to help ease his transition to full-time starter.
South Carolina fans, of course, love to point out that their new QB already has a big-time victory over Upstate rival Clemson under his belt.
Still, this is a brand new season and Thompson is not resting on past successes.
Spurrier, who has continuously sang the praises of Thompson, says his guy is ready to go.
"We've got to keep him healthy, but he's ready to have a big year, I believe," said Spurrier.
This is also a brand new rivalry game with a trophy involved. Take a gander at The Bonham Trophy when you get a moment.
Many South Carolina fans were puzzled after A&M was picked as the new cross-division rival. After last night's Midnight Yell where thousands of fans on both sides converged on the State House to see who could out talk the other, it's easy to see now.
