SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Detectives arrested two alleged heroin dealers in a convenience store parking lot on State Street Wednesday afternoon.

Springfield police Sgt. John Delaney told CBS 3 that detectives were led to the Day and Night Convenience Store at 671 State St. following a narcotics investigation.

"The detectives observed the two dealers of death about to make a large Heroin transaction and interrupted their deal," Delaney said.

Police arrested the two men and confiscated 300 bags of heroin and more than $1,600 from their Audi, Delaney said.

Jamie Lopez, 29, of 55 Rohr St., Rochester, NY, and Jose Figueroa, of 171 Breckwood Blvd. Springfield, were charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, conspiracy, and violation of a drug free school zone, according to the arrest report.

"In the past two days the Springfield Police Department Narcotics Division has taken over 600 bags of heroin of our streets, Delaney said.

Both men are scheduled to be arraigned in Springfield District Court Thursday.
