ALBANY, OR (KPTV) -

A 44-year-old woman from Springfield who led police on a chase up Interstate 5 was shot after pointing a replica gun at officers, according to Albany police.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday at the Jackson's Chevron station on Highway 34 in Linn County after Springfield police began chasing Amanda Gatewood in a stolen 2000 Suzuki Vitara.

Oregon State Police and Linn County deputies joined in the chase as it moved north on I-5 and they used spike strips and PIT maneuvers.

Eventually, Gatewood took an exit off I-5 and headed west on Highway 34, then stopped at the entrance to the Chevron station.

Gatewood, who was the only person in the car, ran toward the store entrance, police said.

She was shot by a Springfield police officer after she pointed a replica 1911 semi-automatic handgun at officers, according to police. Gatewood was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in critical condition. It's not known whether she's expected to survive the shooting.

The Linn County Major Crimes Team is now investigating the officer-involved shooting.

They're using store surveillance video from the Chevron station to help them determine what happened.
