PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A parrot belonging to a terminally ill man has been found thanks to a viewer who saw the story on TV.

The man's daughter, Karen Cox, says she let the parrot, named Gypsy, out of his cage on Saturday. Cox said Gypsy then escaped through an open sliding glass door.

A woman, who saw the story on TV, recognized the bird flying around her home yesterday, seven miles away from where the owner lives.

Cox grabbed a travel cage and went to the location where the bird was spotted. She saw the bird in a tree and was able to retrieve Gypsy.

Cox says that Gypsy is doing just fine and has been eating like crazy since he's been home.
