Family, friends hold vigil for Kyron Horman 5 years after disappearance

BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

Five long years and there is still no sign of Kyron Horman, but his mother, Desiree, is hanging on to hope that one day she will get answers.

A fence that once stood in front of Skyline School,  filled up with cards, balloons and pictures, has become a symbol of hope for Kyron's safe return.

Huddled together with candlelight, family, friends and strangers say a prayer for Kyron, the little boy who became a household name when he disappeared.

Kyron's mom and stepdad toured the Wall of Hope that is located in Beaverton, adding new decorations.

Desiree says the day is about her son, but it's also about Terri Horman, Kyron's stepmother and the last person cops said was with him.

Desiree's still convinced Terri is the one who took Kyron.

"Absolutely, without a doubt. With all my heart I know she did it. I think she was working with one, or possibly two people. But absolutely she did it," said Desiree.

Local parents who've been following the case showed up to pay their respects, along with officials from the sheriff and DA's office.

"The Multnomah County District Attorney's Office was on scene at Skyline 5 years ago and we continue to be involved in the case so tonight we wanted to come out and show our support for everyone," said Don Rees from the Multnomah Co. District Attorney's Office.

The crowd at the Wall of Hope released red balloons, Kyron's favorite color.

Desiree hopes that if he sees them, if he's listening, she wants him to know she will never give up.

"I will continue searching for Kyron until the end. I will fight against the silence to get answers. I will do whatever it takes to bring my son home," said Desiree.

Officials told FOX 12 Kyron's disappearance is still very much an active investigation and there is a detective and a retired FBI investigator dedicated to it.

No arrests have been made and Terri Horman has never officially been named as a suspect.
