Vancouver teacher arrested for voyeurism appears in court

An Evergreen High School teacher who is facing voyeurism charges in connection to two incidents - one in the classroom and one in a store -made his first appearance in court on Tuesday.

Matthew Morasch, 40, was arrested by detectives from the Vancouver Police Department Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit on Monday on two counts of voyeurism.

He had been put on paid leave at the school last week pending an investigation.

Police said a school resource officer was notified about a teacher allegedly capturing inappropriate images of a student with his phone.

The girl in this case said last week she believes Morasch was recording video up her dress while talking to her about a class assignment.

Other students captured images of the incident showing the teacher holding his phone below a table.

"I felt disgusted and grossed out," the girl told FOX 12 last week.

According to court documents, the video was deleted before Morasch gave his phone to police.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for Morasch's phone. The first count of voyeurism relates to an image from the classroom, police said.

The second count is connected to an unrelated incident at a Battle Ground Goodwill store. Those photos of an unidentified woman had a time stamp of April 2015, according to investigators.

Morasch's next court date is set for July 7.
