CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office trained on personal water crafts (PWCs) for patrol and rescue operations on the Willamette River.

The training happened on Wednesday at Willamette Falls. The Oregon State Marine Board (OSMB) provided the training.

CCSO said the training is new to the state, developed and organized by OSMB. This training will enhance the marine patrol's water-rescue and patrol response.

Wednesday's class was the second one so far this year.

Participants, including students from the Multnomah and Clark Co. Sheriff's Offices, operated PWC's in various water conditions, including strong current and white water.

Clackamas County and OSMB said they hope to continue hosting classes to train law enforcement from all around the region.
