Police: Speeding driver in SE Portland had stolen handgun in SUV

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A speeding driver was stopped in southeast Portland and a stolen gun was located in his SUV, according to police.

Officers stopped a GMC Yukon for speeding at Southeast 100th Avenue and Stark Street at 10:30 p.m. Friday.

During the course of the stop, officers located a stolen handgun in the vehicle and arrested the driver, identified as 30-year-old Marcus Giles.

The gun had been reported stolen during a car prowl in Clark County.

Giles was booked in the Multnomah County Jail on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm and first-degree theft. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court Monday.
