EUGENE, OR (AP) -

Authorities in Eugene have arrested a 78-year-old man in connection with a woman's suspicious death earlier this week.

The Register-Guard reports police officials on Friday said they arrested Howard Richard Stull on a murder charge as well as other warrants. Stull pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Eugene police have not revealed the circumstances of the crime. But neighbors and witnesses said the woman was stabbed to death by a man she allegedly rented a room to in the home that she owned.

Authorities identified the victim as 59-year-old Kathy Kay Braun. Her body was found on Thursday.

According to court records, Stull is a felon convicted of crimes dating back two decades in Oregon.
