Oregon State Police sent out a notice Monday about a statewide investigation they're conducting with the FBI and Postal Inspectors, after they said multiple government offices around Oregon received suspicious mail containing an unknown substance.

The Marion and Washington County Sheriff's offices each received one of those letters.

Wasco County deputies said the courthouse in The Dalles also was evacuated due to a suspicious letter.

And according to the East Oregonian, a Grant County sheriff was hospitalized after he received a suspicious letter.

The report said the envelope had a white substance that caused the sheriff to develop a rash on his arms.

Bob Ray with the Washington County Sheriff's office said this statewide pattern, with letters all arriving on the same day, is like nothing he's seen before.

The FBI can't say what was found inside the letters, but sheriffs said they think they're related.
