SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A fast-moving brush fire led to evacuations in southeast Salem on Tuesday.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office reported people living near Southeast 74th Avenue and MacLeay Road were being evacuated due to the fire.

The fire was burning north of that neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, according to deputies.

Firefighters said the fire was first reported at 1:30 p.m. and had grown to four alarms within an hour. Marion County Fire District #1 reported that multiple structures were being threatened.

By shortly after 3 p.m., crews reported the fire had been knocked down and people were allowed to return to their homes.

The fire is estimated to have burned 15 acres and directly threatened six structures. Up to 20 buildings were indirectly threatened in all by the fire, according to Marion County Fire District #1.

Firefighters said all the structures were protected and there are no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
