Surveillance video shows thief stealing $2,000 computer from SE Portland shop

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A fast moving burglar was caught on camera breaking into a Southeast Portland boutique, ripping off the store’s high priced computer in seconds.

The suspect was in and out of the Redux Boutique on Southeast Burnside in under a minute around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

In that short time, though, he managed to steal the most valuable thing in the store, and now the owner wants it back.

On surveillance video, a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt can be seen pacing outside the window for a moment, checking things out.

Store owner Tamara Goldsmith claimed he then broke in through the back door with some kind of tool and went straight for the front counter, stealing a 22-inch iMac computer worth nearly $2,000 with all of the software that was on it.

Goldsmith isn’t sure yet what her insurance will cover if anything, and it makes her angry thinking about how the thief planned everything.

“It’s upsetting,” she told Fox 12. “He definitely was casing the place to get the lay of the land and figure out what he could re-sell, I’m sure.”

The suspect triggered an alarm when he broke in and officers responded right away.

The Portland Police Bureau asks that anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any relevant information to call them at 503-823-3333 or submit a tip on their website.
