RAINIER, OR (KPTV) -

A young horse fell into a swimming pool in Rainier and was unable – or possibly unwilling – to get out on her own.

Columbia River Fire & Rescue crews were called out to the 28000 block of Dike Road at 8:45 a.m. Thursday to assist in a horse rescue.

Firefighters said a 3-month-old foal was found in the backyard pool, which had a cover on it, by the horse's owner.

Firefighters used a fire hose as a sling to safely remove the horse named Amy Lou from the pool.

Once out of the water, the young horse was reunited with her concerned mother, according to firefighters.

With a heat wave underway, firefighters speculated Amy Lou may not have wanted to get out of the pool.
