PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A flying pug. An Oregon Duck accented with Beaver colors. A “paper” airplane covered with the PDX carpet pattern.

Those are among the 41 entries in the Red Bull Flugtag competition that takes place Saturday afternoon at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

Organizers are expecting tens of thousands of people to attend the competition.

Doors to the free event open at 11 a.m. The opening ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m.

Participants and spectators are encouraged to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade.

People can bring empty water bottles to fill up at free water stations. Water will also be for sale.

The day will kick off with Olympian Will Claye jumping off of the deck to set the target distance for teams competing in the event.
