Most people probably already know all the obvious ways to beat the heat, like getting a fan, turning on the ac or going swimming.

But did you know there are certain foods that can keep you cool?

Most may turn first to ice cream or snow cones, but there are some healthy choices too.

Spicy foods are a surprisingly good way to get you cool. They make you sweat, which helps you cool down more quickly.

If you don't like spicy foods, try fruit with a lot of water content like watermelons, peaches, pineapples and cucumbers.

Citrus fruits are great, especially lemons, because they get rid of the toxins in the body

Leafy greens are another way to go. With their high water content and nutritional value, they are easy to digest, which uses less energy.

Though it may have some people scratching their heads, some cultures around the world drink hot tea to stay cool.

It tricks your body into sweating more, and evaporating sweat is what keeps you cool. As an added plus, tea, which is mostly water, still keeps you hydrated.
