PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A drunken man with a handgun in his waistband, along with another handgun and a rifle in his SUV, crossed into oncoming traffic and nearly hit a patrol car in southeast Portland, according to police.

Gang Enforcement Team officers stopped a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV near Southeast 137th and Powell Boulevard at 8:25 p.m. Saturday.

As officers made contact with the driver, identified as 36-year-old Sabahudin Nuhanovic, they said he reached for his waistband several times before they were able to take him into custody.

During a search, police said an unloaded handgun was discovered in Nuhanovic's waistband. A subsequent search of the SUV turned up another handgun, a shotgun and ammunition, according to police.

Officers said Nuhanovic was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. He was booked at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, reckless driving and DUII.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in court Monday.
