Portland police investigate shots fired from SUV on MLK Boulevard

Police are investigating shots fired from an SUV at a car on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Northeast Portland.

Officers were initially called out to the intersection of Failing Street at 3:35 p.m. Sunday. Investigators said evidence of gunfire was then located at MLK Jr. Boulevard and Mason Street.

Witnesses told police that two vehicles were heading northbound on MLK Jr. Boulevard when someone in an SUV fired shots at a sedan that was driving next to the SUV.

Witnesses said both vehicles then left the area.

Police said no gunshot victims were found.

Northbound MLK Jr. Boulevard was closed from Failing Street to Skidmore Street as investigators collected evidence.

Police said it was just one of several incidents of gun violence being investigated by the Tactical Operations Division citywide.
