Crews battle wildfire at Fort Stevens State Park on Oregon coast

HAMMOND, OR (KPTV) -

Crews battled a wildfire at Fort Stevens State Park on the Oregon coast Monday night.

Around two dozen firefighters were called out from the Warrenton Fire Department and Oregon Department of Forestry.

A Department of Forestry helicopter was also being used to drop water on the fire.

The fire was initially reported at 4:47 p.m.

By 7:30 p.m., it was around 5-7 acres, according to police.

Parking areas for Social Security Beach along the Columbia River were evacuated. However, no campers were evacuated from the park Monday evening. 

There is no estimate on when it will be contained. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
