MCMINNVILLE, OR (KPTV) -

On July 31, a McMinnville police officer was called out to an area of North Highway 99W near Doran Drive after a report of 7 abandoned kittens.

Officer Marc Cerda responded to the area around 7:30 a.m.

When Officer Cerda arrived, he was able to get 6 of the kittens and placed them into a cardboard box that was provided by a passerby.

The kittens were taken to Homeward Bound Pets in McMinnville.

Homeward Bound Pets said someone brought in the 7th kitten later that day.

The kittens, who are about 4 weeks old, are all in good health, but a few have eye infections that Homeward Bound Pets are treating.

Homeward Bound Pets said the kittens will be available for adoption in 4 to 6 weeks.

McMinnville police said the owner of the kittens has not been identified.
