Police: Shots fired, home damaged by gunfire in NE Portland

Posted: Updated:

Police responding to reports of a shooting in northeast Portland found at least one home that had been damaged by gunfire.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Northeast Emerson Street at 6:11 p.m. Tuesday.

No gunshot victims were located, and none have arrived at area hospitals, but police said they found evidence of gunfire at the scene and one home that sustained damage.

A witness reported seeing a black man in his late 30s or early 40s running from the area. He is described as 5'6" tall with a thin build and dread-locked hair.

Investigators said it was not immediately known if the man was a possible suspect, victim or witness.

Another witness described hearing a vehicle speed away, but it's not known if it was related to the shots fired.

Police closed roads from Northeast 8th to Northeast 10th Avenue, between Killingsworth and Roselawn streets.

Gang Enforcement Team detectives responded to conduct an investigation.

This is the fifth shots fired investigation in Portland in the last week.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.
