PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

About half a dozen people in southeast Portland woke up Wednesday morning to find messages spray-painted on their vehicles and other property.

The vandalism occurred in the area of Southeast 151st Avenue between Mill and Main streets.

The spray-painting included random scribbles, smiley faces and words and phrases such as "I need help."

Some neighbors said they woke up to police knocking on their doors around 2:45 a.m., while others didn't see the damage until they woke up later in the morning or heard from their neighbors.

Police said they talked to 16 people who had property vandalized and officers spotted at least 30 more cars and other items spray-painted.

A witness reported seeing three juvenile boys in the area at the time of the vandalism. Officers searched the area but didn't find any suspects.

Police did not provide descriptions of any of the suspects.

Anyone with information should call Portland police at 503-823-3333.
