Depoe Bay man faces charges in June crash involving Yamhill County deputy

MCMINNVILLE, OR (KPTV) -

A Depoe Bay man faces a number of misdemeanor and felony charges in connection with a crash that seriously injured a Yamhill County deputy in June.

Deputies said Randy D. Manns, 46, was driving a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV east on Highway 18 near McMinnville June 28 when he crossed the center line and crashed into a patrol car driven by Deputy Dave Mills, 27, who was headed in the opposite direction.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged, and Manns' SUV caught fire.

Both Manns and Mills were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Manns faces a long list of charges, including assault in the second degree, assault in the third degree, felony DUII, possession of methamphetamine, felon in possession of a firearm, reckless driving, reckless endangering and criminal mischief in the second degree.

He's currently in the Lincoln County Jail on an unrelated charge.
