Police: Inmate walks away from fire crew in Lakeview

LAKEVIEW, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police are investigating how a inmate was able to walk away from a mobile camp at the Stouts Creek Fire on Sunday. 

The Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) staff said that they discovered inmate, Kenneth Polchowski, missing at 6 a.m. after a routing count.

Polchowski is said to be a 26-year-old Caucasian, 5'10", 180 pounds with brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans with the word "inmate" and the DOC logo stenciled on the knee in orange and a blue shirt with the word "inmate" and the DOC logo stenciled in orange on the front and back. 

According to police, Polchowski entered DOC custody in January on four counts of identity theft, one count of theft and one count of burglary. 

Anyone with information is asked to call the Oregon State Police.
