TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

The City of Tigard has issued a boil order in Tigard's Upper Bull Mountain area.

All Tigard water customers in the Upper Bull Mountain area are advised to boil their water.

This advisory only applies to a small number of water customers in the Upper Bull Mountain pressure zone. The city has posted the household addresses affected by this boil water advisory on their web page.

The city issued a Code RED automated dialing system notification to customers in the affected area this morning. They said that 539 households in the Bull Mountain area may be at risk.

They said that tap water used for drinking, food prep, brushing teeth, washing dishes and making ice should be heated to a full rolling boil for at least one minute.

The advisory was issued after a loss of pressure in the Upper Bull Mountain pressure zone on Sunday at 3:30 a.m. They said that the drop in water pressure below normal could have allowed bacterial contaminants to enter the water system.

Water samples were collected Sunday morning. Results from those samples will be available Monday morning and will determine whether customers must continue to boil their water.
