VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A car slammed into the back of an SUV that was stopped for a red light in Vancouver, critically injuring a passenger, according to deputies.

Emergency crews responded to the 5500 block of Northeast Padden Parkway at 7:39 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators said a westbound Chevy SUV was stopped at the traffic signal when it was struck from behind by a Subaru.

A passenger in the Subaru, 26-year-old Moses Morales of Vancouver, was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and remained in critical condition Monday.

The driver of the Subaru, 23-year-old Jesse Gower of Washougal, was treated and released at the hospital.

The driver of the SUV, Florentino Contreras, 50, of Vancouver, was also treated and released at the hospital.

No other information was released by deputies due to the ongoing investigation.

Padden Parkway was closed to westbound traffic at Northeast 62nd Avenue with traffic rerouted onto Northeast 88th Street.
