PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A driver was arrested after driving onto the sidewalk on the Broadway Bridge and crashing into some scaffolding, Portland police said Monday.

Officers responded to the bridge just before 9:45 a.m. and found the car had struck scaffolding that was set up for a construction project.

The bridge is closed to all vehicular traffic this week for planned repairs to the bridge deck along the Portland Streetcar tracks, while the sidewalks remain open to pedestrians and cyclists.

Jesse Allen, 37, was booked in the Multnomah County Jail on charges of DUII, recklessly endangering workers and reckless driving.

There were no reports of injuries.
