GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

A 27-year-old man was killed and two other people were injured in a shooting at a Gresham apartment complex.

Police responded to the complex at Northeast 162nd Avenue and Halsey Street at 5:52 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators said two men were involved in a shooting and both were described as shooters. Kevin Varnado, 27, of Portland, was found in the parking lot with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, police also identified two other people who were injured by gunfire. Malcom Jesse, 21, and Collett Harris, 29, are recovering at the hospital from injuries described as non-life threatening.

Police said Jesse was located a short distance away from Varnado at the shooting scene. Harris was identified after she took herself to the hospital.

Detectives believe all three people knew each other, however no other details about what led to the shooting have been released. Police are investigating it as a homicide.

Investigators said they do not believe the shooting is gang-related.

On Monday, police identified a person of interest they were attempting to locate. Wallace Simpson, 29, of Portland, is believed to be involved in the shooting, but detectives did not reveal his role. He is described as a black man, 6'3" and 235 pounds.
