PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A New Jersey man walking across Northeast 82nd Avenue in Portland against a "don't walk" sign was hit and killed by a car, according to police.

Police identified the 60-year-old man Tuesday as Edgar Caceres of New Jersey.

Investigators said he was crossing 82nd Avenue at Glisan Street at 9 a.m. Monday when he was struck by a 1990 Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Camry, identified as Cindy Chew, 58, of Portland, was heading north on 82nd Avenue in the right lane when the collision occurred.

The car was towed from the scene as part of the investigation. Chew was taken to the hospital for treatment and officers said she did not show any signs of impairment.

Caceres was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

Investigators said Caceres was in a crosswalk but had a "don't walk" sign.

No citations have been issued in this case. Once the investigation is complete, it will be forwarded to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

The intersection was closed for several hours after the crash.
