NEW YORK (KPTV) -

Twins are said to have a special bond, though two sisters in New York may have raised the bar.

On August 5, Dawn Policastro gave birth to a healthy baby boy, her nephew.

Policastro’s twin, Allison Dinkelacker, had been diagnosed with cancer during her previous pregnancy, which ended in an early C-section on the twins’ birthday.

Dinkelacker wanted to grow her family, but the hormones from another pregnancy would cause her cancer to return. That is when her twin offered to help.

Photos of the pair from Allison Rose Photography began to go viral, growing thousand of likes and share immediately.

One photo, not released until after the birth,  even showed that while Policastro knew she would be welcoming a nephew, her twin did not know it was a boy.

In a report on Patch.com, Dinkelacker expressed her thanks to her sister.

“How can we begin to thank you for the tremendous generosity and sacrifice you have so willingly bestowed these last few months?” Allison said. “You have given us not just the fulfillment of a wish we’ve had for the last six years, but a whole new life, and a family of four we thought we’d never have.”
