PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police are searching for a suspect known only as "Papa John" who is accused of attacking a woman with a baseball bat in a southeast Portland apartment.

Detectives released surveillance images of the suspect Wednesday and Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

The assault happened at 7:50 p.m. June 19 in the victim's apartment on the 2400 block of Southeast 139th Avenue, according to police.

Investigators said the man hit the woman with a baseball bat several times and attempted to stab the victim with a knife.

The suspect, who police said is known as "Papa John," is described as a white man in his 60s, 5'2" and 120 pounds with wire-framed glasses.

Police said he may have previously spent time in prison.

A motive for the attack was not revealed.
