ALOHA, OR (KPTV) -

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched to a fire Friday morning involving a duplex and 200 foot tall fir trees.

Firefighters arrived on scene to a thick column of black smoke billowing from one of the duplex units, which was fully engulfed in flames with the fire spreading to the attic and adjoining unit.

The fire had also spread to several of the fir trees in the back yard of the property. While one crew fought the house fire from the back, other firefighters used a deck gun mounted on the fire engine to put out the fire in the trees.

The crews worked to make sure the fire did not spread to any more properties, and had it extinguished in 20 minutes. Both of the burned duplex units were unoccupied at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries.

There was no estimate as of Friday morning to the cost of the damage. Crews did say there was no fire sprinkler in place in the duplex.
