PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A grand jury in Multnomah County has indicted a Battle Ground man after fight with another spectator at the Portland International Raceway in July led to the other man’s death.

Michael Eugene Taylor, 50, was indicted on charges of Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Assault in the Second Degree following a fight with 61-year-old Anthony Mancuso of Portland.

A release from the Portland Police Bureau noted that Taylor is expected to turn himself over to police next week, and that the PPB feels he does not represent any risk to the public.

The assault happened around 8:15 p.m. on July, 9. During the assault, Mancuso suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Portland hospital. He died as a result of his injuries on the next evening.

Taylor was initially arrested at the scene of the altercation, but was later released pending a further investigation.

Debbie Rommel, Mancuso's widow, told Fox 12 in July that she believes hot tempers do not belong on the track.

"If you can't contain yourself in situations in something competitive, don't be in those situations," she said.

The PPB asks that anyone with information about the case contact Detective Erik Kammerer at 503-823-0762 or by email at erik.kammerer@portlandoregon.gov.
