Harry Potter fans gather in Grant Park to play Quidditch Tournament

Posted: Updated:

The Northwest Fantasy Quidditch Tournament was a big success at Grant Park on Saturday.

Quidditch is a fictional game from Harry Potter but has now grown into a real-life sport.

The game can be a little complicated to play.

It involves four different balls and people running around with broom sticks between their legs, but those who play it said it's a blast.

Although it's growing as a sport now, originally it was all part of a book and movie series.

"It was actually based on Harry Potter and adapted to be playable. And it was originally adapted in 2005 at Middleberry College so it's coming up on its 10 year anniversary of being a sport," said Kym Couch, who was at the tournament.

Quidditch now has almost 400 teams around the World.

About 150 of them are located in the United States.
