BANKS, OR (KPTV) -

A three-alarm field fire burned 13 acres near the golf course in Banks on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters said the fire did not threaten any structures, but due to how fast it was moving and the shifting winds creating challenges for crews at the scene, it was upgraded to three alarms.

Union Point Cemetery is also nearby.

By 2 p.m., firefighters said they had the fire under control. However, it was likely going to be several hours before it was fully out.

People in Banks reported seeing heavy smoke around town.

A partial evacuation was put in place at the Quail Valley Golf Course due to the smoke.

According to Banks Fire District 13, they worked with at least four neighboring departments to put out the fire and have sufficient crews for Banks Days taking place at Sunset Park on Sunday.

Investigators said the fire appears to have been caused by farming machinery in the field.

No injuries were reported.
