NEAR WOODBURN, OR (KPTV) -

A man allegedly led police on a long pursuit that started in Newberg and ended near the Woodburn Outlet Mall.

Police first tried to pull over Jack D. Roach, 38, of Dayton near 1st and Main in Newberg after a pair of callers reported seeing a speeding S-10 driving down the middle of Highway 99W.

The pursuit continued on Hwy 219 towards I-5. An OSP Trooper tried to spike the truck's tires but that was unsuccessful.

Finally on I-5, the truck pulled over and then drove through a ditch and fence onto N. Arney Road near the Woodburn Outlet Mall.

Police said Roach then tried to run from his truck but was arrested by police.

While in custody, police say he admitted he had been using methamphetamine.

Roach was taken to the Yamhill County Jail on attempt to elude, reckless driving, DUII, hit and run and criminal mischief charges.

Police say they later discovered he struck a jeep during the pursuit and continued driving.

Court records show Roach has a 2013 conviction for menacing.

He is being held on 35-thousand dollars bail and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
