PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

An escaped inmate was caught with his girlfriend after she denied having any knowledge of his escape or his location to police, according to court documents.

Danny Spillers was discovered missing from the Columbia River Correctional Institution in Portland the morning of Aug. 2. The Oregon Department of Corrections reported he had broken a kitchen door and window to escape.

Spillers, who has a long criminal history, was in prison on four counts of second-degree burglary and one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

On Aug. 3, detectives went to the home of Wendy Osborne, 30, after learning she had been involved in an "intimate relationship" with Spillers, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The affidavit states Osborne denied having any involvement in his escape and denied having any contact with Spillers since the escape occurred.

Osborne was advised that she could be charged with hindering prosecution if she were to provide him any aid or transportation in an effort to avoid detection or capture, court documents state. Officers told Osborne she needed to notify law enforcement if she were to learn of his location.

Spillers remained on the loose until Aug. 14. Court documents state police learned he was staying at a home on the 700 block of Cedar Street in Fairview. When officers arrived at that location, they found Osborne's car in the driveway with Spillers in the driver's seat and Osborne standing with another woman by the passenger side, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Spillers attempted to run away, but he was arrested after a short chase. The U.S. Marshals Service said he was carrying a handgun at the time of his arrest.

His previous earliest release date would have been April 2017.

Court documents state a search of Osborne's car revealed property belonging to Spillers.

Osborne was arrested on the charge of hindering prosecution.
