NE Portland home hit by gunfire; motive unknown for shooting

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A northeast Portland home was hit by gunfire late Tuesday night, narrowly missing a person inside.

Police were called out to the Northeast 72nd and Halsey Street at 11:45 p.m. on reports of shots fired.

As officers were responding, someone called 911 to report several gunshots fired into his home.

Officers went to that home on the 1400 block of Northeast 72nd Avenue and found several bullet holes in the front of the house.

Multiple rounds passed through the exterior walls and into the home.  

Police said a man inside was almost hit by the shots. He told police he did not know why someone would be shooting at his home. Investigators said there is no indication of any gang involvement in connection to this shooting.

There is no known motive or suspect information at this time.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to call Portland detectives at 503-823-0400 and reference case number 15-284327.

A similar incident took place at 5:18 a.m. Tuesday on the 10300 block of North Mohawk Avenue. Police said a home there was hit by gunfire, with no known motive or suspect information. The three people in that home were not injured. Police said there is no link currently between the two shootings.
